What the Void? It’s the Friday Moon!

posted in: Moon Phases | 0

Making plans for this Friday? Head’s up! It’s a void-of-course moon all day on Friday, July 14, 2017.

What’s a void-of-course? It is the time period when the Moon is traveling between astrological signs. The Moon is not making an aspect to any particular planet.

I mention this because it’s practically all day on Friday for the V/C from 10 am PST to 5p PST.

Along with the moon phases, I watch the V/C moon times carefully. Instead of a negative vibe of what not to do, I try to focus on positive activities. There are quite a few that pretty much guarantee a successful transition when the Moon moves along again.

Void-of-Course Moon on Friday July 14, 2017 Riding Moon Cycles

On the job, I’ve always done my best to avoid important assignments and reports during the void-of-course moon. Delay as much as humanly possible for another day. Sometimes delay is not an option if you are not in control of your schedule, but knowing the void-of-course times in advance can help when you do have a choice in the matter. This practice got me through many years of corporate employment with a positive reputation, just by following the moon phases and the V/C whenever I had an opportunity to voice a preference.

Here are activities that I find work well during the V/C – in no particular order. It’s a list of suggestions for the type of day you can schedule. You’ll find me with a full laundry basket on most V/C days.

  • Social time with known friends and no agenda
  • Rest, movies, music
  • Filing, putting things away
  • Routine work activities
  • Laundry
  • Cleaning
  • Mending
  • General chores
  • Garden maintenance
  • Routine personal care and pampering
  • Work an ongoing project – no starting, deciding, finishing

Attending to chores and routine maintenance makes for a great start of the next astrological sign because everything is set to go.

I’ve never had an original idea start during a V/C moon that manifested into a success. And I have made lists of them. I make a point of NOT thinking up new ideas. And I love new ideas!

I also make a point of not trying to organize something new or try to throw things out. It’s not a great time for final decisions.

I hope this moon cycle tip works for you this week. I am so glad you stopped by today!

Tips for the coming Full Moon

That will be Saturn near the Full Moon on Thursday night July 6. The Sun is high overhead now and the Moon is much lower on the horizon.

You may feel the tension brewing during the Waxing Gibbous moon phase the next few days building to the Full Moon.

WHAT TO DO

A few tips from “Moon Days” are:

Work on the plan already in motion.

Patiently ask for and find the answers to work around the obstacle.

My self-care strategies are…

The issue before you is necessary growth.

Recognize what is working. Focus on the good news!

These and more daily tips in “Moon Days” are purposefully brief for the widest possible interpretation according to your current circumstances.

For instance, I have a writing project that of course has an obstacle that needs an adjustment. I am letting part of it go, but the hard work completed can be applied to a different project. And voila! It is simplified and better.

SLEEP

Now through next week the bright light of the moon may keep you up at night. This phenomenon is one of the reasons I study the moon phases. Since I am so sensitive, I practice certain principles to be more comfortable during this time.

Head Position – Magnetics

One of the most interesting magnetic connections to sleep is to determine the best position of your head. I choose North and even rearrange hotel room furniture when traveling. This position aligns with the electromagnetic energy of the Earth. Head to the South also works for some people.

You have to try out the different directions and see what works for you.

CURTAINS

I use blackout curtains and they work really well. There’s still the magnetics of the Full Moon but it blocks the light interference for the eyes.

ELECTRONICS

There’s plenty of medical and scientific studies available to limit the use of electronics before sleeping. I banished them from my bedroom and only keep a small battery clock and one lamp for reading and dressing. Your mileage may vary!

ROUTINE

Everyone agrees that a simple routine prepares the body for sleep. Find yours and repeat. For instance, choose the same time of evening for supplements, finishing electronics, meditation, music, bathing, arranging the windows/curtains, reading a paper book.

I heard on NPR this week that the thinking about getting up to do a light task when you can’t sleep is revised now. It is recommended to stay in bed because it is a form of rest for the body.

SUPPLEMENTS

Find your sleep supplements. There are so many available as herbs and homeopathic remedies. I like to use a combination of homeopathic passion flower and herbal tea with German Chamomile fresh tincture and Wild Oats fresh tincture. As always, follow your doctor’s recommendations for any medical issues.

Happy dreams!

What to Watch – The Moon Cycle Today FM+5

posted in: Moon Phases | 0

Moon Musings. Today, June 14, is what I call FM+5, or Full Moon + 5 days in the lunar calendar today.

What to Watch for FM+5 Moon Cycle Today

It’s called the Waning Gibbous moon.

Each moon phase day stands in relation to the whole 29-day cycle from Full Moon to Full Moon.

GIBBOUS

Gibbous means bulging when the Moon is more than half full in the sky. We are poised gracefully between the hard edges of the Full Moon June 9 and Last Quarter coming up June 17.

This rest period of opposing forces is called a Waning Trine in astrology-speak when the Moon is 120 degrees behind the Sun.

JUST FOR TODAY

The Moon Days book entry for FM+5 says, “Just for today let the anxieties ease up a bit. Be here now with whatever you are doing.”

It is coupled with tomorrow’s FM+6 that says, “Just for today be who you are, just as you are, right now.”

This is the harmonious rhythm in the order of the continous cycle of the Moon.

WHOLE CYCLE

We stand now opposite in the cycle from June 3-4. Seems so long ago, doesn’t it? These precious days in the lunar rhythm offer a short time to catch our breath and have a bit of a beach resort holiday in the cycle. We can relax and process the huge changes experienced recently.

WHAT TO WATCH

In the “What to Watch” section of the Moon Days FM+5, it says, “Letting go is the way to move ahead. Don’t resist the need for change.”

A few of the suggested Journal Topics for musing this moon phase are:

My letting go meter is High, Medium, or Low.

I lay in my virtual hammock and muse about…

I am grateful for…

It’s a time to let go. The opposite choice is to hold on to past feelings and beliefs which will increase fears and pain. Better to choose a new vision now of a positive future experience.

Giving up, letting go, releasing – these choices open a new door of experience.

Understand recent choices that may have put you off the path and let it be okay. Forgiveness is the foundation of the moon’s rhythmic lessons. We get another chance. Time now to allow it all to settle and prepare to move on to a better adventure in the story of life.

How you experience this lovely rest period is different from everyone else.

It might be deep thinking or simply a restful enjoyment.

There is no wrong way to do it. We are all growing and changing at the proper pace.

A conscious acknowledgement of cycle offers assistance to choose which direction to go next. Consider where you have been and where you want to go.

Share a little of what you have learned along the way and others may find a positive inkling about their next choice, too.

My Full Moon experience this cycle was personally explosive! I got to examine deep emotions that I’ve carried my whole life. They had a good use for a while and I recognize that their value has changed as I have changed. Following the moon’s rhythm helps me to process it all. I welcome this mini holiday and am enjoying the release.

Hope you are, too. Blessings on your day!
