Tips for the coming Full Moon

posted in: Moon Phases | 0

That will be Saturn near the Full Moon on Thursday night July 6. The Sun is high overhead now and the Moon is much lower on the horizon.

You may feel the tension brewing during the Waxing Gibbous moon phase the next few days building to the Full Moon.

WHAT TO DO

A few tips from “Moon Days” are:

Work on the plan already in motion.

Patiently ask for and find the answers to work around the obstacle.

My self-care strategies are…

The issue before you is necessary growth.

Recognize what is working. Focus on the good news!

These and more daily tips in “Moon Days” are purposefully brief for the widest possible interpretation according to your current circumstances.

For instance, I have a writing project that of course has an obstacle that needs an adjustment. I am letting part of it go, but the hard work completed can be applied to a different project. And voila! It is simplified and better.

SLEEP

Now through next week the bright light of the moon may keep you up at night. This phenomenon is one of the reasons I study the moon phases. Since I am so sensitive, I practice certain principles to be more comfortable during this time.

Head Position – Magnetics

One of the most interesting magnetic connections to sleep is to determine the best position of your head. I choose North and even rearrange hotel room furniture when traveling. This position aligns with the electromagnetic energy of the Earth. Head to the South also works for some people.

You have to try out the different directions and see what works for you.

CURTAINS

I use blackout curtains and they work really well. There’s still the magnetics of the Full Moon but it blocks the light interference for the eyes.

ELECTRONICS

There’s plenty of medical and scientific studies available to limit the use of electronics before sleeping. I banished them from my bedroom and only keep a small battery clock and one lamp for reading and dressing. Your mileage may vary!

ROUTINE

Everyone agrees that a simple routine prepares the body for sleep. Find yours and repeat. For instance, choose the same time of evening for supplements, finishing electronics, meditation, music, bathing, arranging the windows/curtains, reading a paper book.

I heard on NPR this week that the thinking about getting up to do a light task when you can’t sleep is revised now. It is recommended to stay in bed because it is a form of rest for the body.

SUPPLEMENTS

Find your sleep supplements. There are so many available as herbs and homeopathic remedies. I like to use a combination of homeopathic passion flower and herbal tea with German Chamomile fresh tincture and Wild Oats fresh tincture. As always, follow your doctor’s recommendations for any medical issues.

Happy dreams!

Lunar Hair Tip #5 – Thicker Hair

Just about every source in the history of lunar hair cutting agrees that the Full Moon is the best phase for seeing thicker growth after a cut or trim.

Lunar Hair Tip #5 - Thicker Hair

I like to refine that notion to include the two days before and after the Full Moon because that is the most concentrated window of time when the Moon travels through Earth’s magnetotail. If you are sensitive to the Moon’s magnetic qualities like I am, you will know what I mean. If not, that’s okay, NASA figured it out for us.

Folklore says to choose any Full Moon for this treatment. It is my experience that it is wise to skip Virgo, Cancer and Pisces. Virgo is barren and better suited for haircuts during the waning moon. Cancer and Pisces are both excluded with the ongoing Pisces-Cancer Debate. I have to say that Libra is wet and hot and would also not be my first choice.

On all the other days of the moon cycle other than the Full Moon, the focus is on specific astrological signs for the goal of thicker hair after a haircut or trim. The recommended signs in order of popularity and importance for lunar hair cutting are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Capricorn.

Taurus and Capricorn are semi-fertile; Scorpio has the class of fertile.

Taurus, Leo, and Capricorn are all dry.

Taurus, Capricorn and Scorpio are cold.

Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio are Fixed.

Leo, a popular sign for haircuts and thicker growth (think lion’s mane) is curious in this category because it is barren and hot, and so unlike the astrological qualities of the other signs. European folklore from the year 1748 has a published almanac about cutting hair at the Leo moon as the common practice. We accept the votes from folklore and history as valid, even with a little mystery. Write to me or comment if you have further insight.

Choose both a Full Moon and a recommended astrological sign for maximum impact. A Taurus full moon. A Leo full moon. A Scorpio full moon. A Capricorn full moon.

Did you miss it this month? That’s okay, grab your astrology calendar and choose future dates with the next Full Moons and astrological signs. It’s also a good practice to look ahead for the whole year to see how many dates will be available. If you need more help, all of the dates are calculated for easy reference in Lunar Hair 2017.

Full Moon Coming June 9 Friday

posted in: Moon Phases | 0

The Full Moon on Friday June 9 shows its full light to us. We are now exactly opposite the New Moon. The Sun and Moon are farthest apart in the cycle.

Full Moon June 9, 2017 Friday

This means facing the full light of what was started at the New Moon. For good or ill, it is now time to size up the situation just as it is.

Actively pursue some type of finish to a project or issue, which could be one step in a larger plan. Declare a completion for now.

Take a few moments to look in the sky at the Full Moon.

Accept current results, without too much criticism, no matter what it is:

• Positive result: If there was a sincere attitude developed since the New Moon, and the challenge was faced and figured out, then the Full Moon brings a sense of resolve and determination.

• Negative result: If you ignored the bumpy issue, which happens to all of us at some point, then expect a mental conflict and perhaps a stalled project. The cycle moves on and it’s okay.

• Neutral result: If you haven’t the least idea of what this means, for either positive or negative, then look forward to working with the cycle to find out. The cycle works as a whole unit with necessary preparation time, goal-setting, visioning and execution – all in their proper phase. There is a chance to start again – especially now, at the Full Moon to prepare for the next round of the cycle.

Pull back a little after the immense effort of putting your mark upon the world and loosen up. Have a good laugh at all of the flapping around you have done in the last weeks to change the world. You may have changed a little, too.
