New Moon Friday June 23 and a Secret

Hello! I want to take a few moments to thank all of you who have ordered my book “Moon Days.” It is such a pleasure to share what I have learned about the moon cycle and I am grateful to those folks who agreed to take a peek at the lunar system for their own use.

Stick with me for a minute and I’ll reveal a moon cycle secret.

Moon Cycle Last Quarter + 5 days and a Secret.

LAST QUARTER + 5 DAYS

On this LQ+5 Last Quarter plus 5 days, June 22, there are several items listed in Moon Days that resonate with me today.

“Use daily priority lists.” This may sound like a simplistic thing to say for any day, but it means more during Last Quarter week than any other week of the cycle. While the emotional body and spirit body are making adjustments from the last cycle and looking forward the next one, this advice keeps everyday tasks moving along while the inner musings are processing. Lists ground my day during this time.

Here’s another one: “How It Feels: A shred of hope returns. The new cycle begins in a few short days. Treasure the recent wisdom gained.” I am also strongly identifying with this stage of the cycle. I’ve participated in a major transition during the last week and I do feel that shred of hope for better days ahead. I need hope to survive or I wither in negative emotions.

These are only a few of the entries for this moon day. I purposely made them short to reveal the most important points of the day and allow for the most personal interpretation. Each person will take a unique perspective from it. My shred of hope is very different from yours!

Moon Cycle New Moon and a Secret

NEW MOON FRIDAY

Now we are poised at the threshold of the New Moon on Friday June 23.

In the “Moon Days” ebook or paperback, I especially like the image for the New Moon day: “The seed swells with the rain.” The cycle eases through the phases. Some people will be ready to act and others of us will be simply percolating with new ideas.

New Moon Day: “What to Do: Let the day be okay. Notice where attention goes. Choose the tone for the cycle. Tend a New Moon ritual.” There is no demand of activity for this day, only the opportunity to acknowledge it.

One of the Journal Topics for the New Moon day is “Compared to last week, today I feel like…” I believe it is important to take some perspective on occasion. Sometimes it feels like the world is too hard and then it all changes during the next part of the cycle. This helps me through the hard times knowing that the lunar rhythm will carry on and I will move along with it.

One of the secrets to enjoying the tremendous benefits of the lunar rhythm is that the cycle engages when you decide to participate.

What to Watch – The Moon Cycle Today FM+5

Moon Musings. Today, June 14, is what I call FM+5, or Full Moon + 5 days in the lunar calendar today.

What to Watch for FM+5 Moon Cycle Today

It’s called the Waning Gibbous moon.

Each moon phase day stands in relation to the whole 29-day cycle from Full Moon to Full Moon.

GIBBOUS

Gibbous means bulging when the Moon is more than half full in the sky. We are poised gracefully between the hard edges of the Full Moon June 9 and Last Quarter coming up June 17.

This rest period of opposing forces is called a Waning Trine in astrology-speak when the Moon is 120 degrees behind the Sun.

JUST FOR TODAY

The Moon Days book entry for FM+5 says, “Just for today let the anxieties ease up a bit. Be here now with whatever you are doing.”

It is coupled with tomorrow’s FM+6 that says, “Just for today be who you are, just as you are, right now.”

This is the harmonious rhythm in the order of the continous cycle of the Moon.

WHOLE CYCLE

We stand now opposite in the cycle from June 3-4. Seems so long ago, doesn’t it? These precious days in the lunar rhythm offer a short time to catch our breath and have a bit of a beach resort holiday in the cycle. We can relax and process the huge changes experienced recently.

WHAT TO WATCH

In the “What to Watch” section of the Moon Days FM+5, it says, “Letting go is the way to move ahead. Don’t resist the need for change.”

A few of the suggested Journal Topics for musing this moon phase are:

My letting go meter is High, Medium, or Low.

I lay in my virtual hammock and muse about…

I am grateful for…

It’s a time to let go. The opposite choice is to hold on to past feelings and beliefs which will increase fears and pain. Better to choose a new vision now of a positive future experience.

Giving up, letting go, releasing – these choices open a new door of experience.

Understand recent choices that may have put you off the path and let it be okay. Forgiveness is the foundation of the moon’s rhythmic lessons. We get another chance. Time now to allow it all to settle and prepare to move on to a better adventure in the story of life.

How you experience this lovely rest period is different from everyone else.

It might be deep thinking or simply a restful enjoyment.

There is no wrong way to do it. We are all growing and changing at the proper pace.

A conscious acknowledgement of cycle offers assistance to choose which direction to go next. Consider where you have been and where you want to go.

Share a little of what you have learned along the way and others may find a positive inkling about their next choice, too.

My Full Moon experience this cycle was personally explosive! I got to examine deep emotions that I’ve carried my whole life. They had a good use for a while and I recognize that their value has changed as I have changed. Following the moon’s rhythm helps me to process it all. I welcome this mini holiday and am enjoying the release.

Hope you are, too. Blessings on your day!

Lunar Hair Tip #2 – Slower Growth

In traditional Western lunar hair charts the waning moon is the focus for the goal of seeing slower growth after a cut or trim.

Which astrological signs to use for slower re-growth.

The waning moon is the light getting smaller, moving towards the New Moon again. The greatest strength of the wane is the week of Last Quarter right before the New Moon. Specifically, two days after Last Quarter day up until the day before the New Moon.

Aries, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Sagittarius, Aquarius

For agreeable astrological signs, Leo comes in with the most votes from the experts on lunar hair care. Followed respectively by Sagittarius, Aries, Virgo, Gemini and Aquarius.

Let’s take a look at why these signs are better than others. What they all have in common is being barren or semi-barren. These terms are used also in lunar gardening. It is the time for maintenance when the moon is in a barren sign, not for planting which is saved for fertile times.

The other common factor is the class of dry. Leo, Sag, Aries are dry and also hot. Virgo is also dry, but cold. Gemini and Aquarius share the hot class.

Consider both the waning moon phase along with an astrological sign for best results for lunar hair care.
